WITMAS International School offers English quality education and care services at Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Primary levels for ages Birth (0) to 11 years; from England’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum through the Cambridge Core curriculum.
    • Nursery

WITMAS International School offers England’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum framework in our Pre-Nursery and Nursery section for age 0 (birth) to 5 years with the view of meeting the educational and care needs of the individual child for the attainment of their full potential and holistic development.

Our classes are small and with full compliments of age appropriate educational resources and facilities, skilled Early Years practitioners, and an enabling environment reflective of respect for the children and their families among others for quality service delivery.

    • Primary

At the primary school level, WITMAS International School offers the Cambridge Core curriculum covering the subjects of Mathematics, English language and Science. This is effectively studied with other subjects based on the Nigerian National curriculum for primary education to expose and enlighten our pupils to the fundamentals of an array of academic disciplines for the right choice of their future professions and careers in line with their abilities and passions. This balanced curriculum covers the areas of Mathematics, Language, Science and Technology, Humanities and Creative Arts. All of our primary school subjects are taught by subject specialists.

At WITMAS International School, Science is studied separately in its individual component subject forms: Physics, Chemistry and Biology. These subjects are taught by subject specialists. This is to ensure that lessons on every aspect of each subject on the curriculum are delivered excellently in content, depth and language for a better understanding and application.

Our primary school entry age is ordinarily four years. We fast track the education of pupils based on their ability.

Our curriculum prepares students for our final examinations such as the Primary Check Point and First School Leaving Certificate Examination, as well as progression examinations to secondary schools such as Federal and State Common Entrance Examinations and Individual Private School’s Entrance Examinations.

    • The Shanghai Maths Approach

WITMAS International School uses the highly effective and results-driven Shanghai method of teaching mathematics. This approach has seen the city of Shanghai at the top of global maths rankings.

We deliver this course using Collins’s Shanghai Maths Project, which has been translated and adapted to ensure that it correlates to the English National Curriculum.

      Shanghai pedagogy:
      – Teachers reinforce that all pupils can achieve high standards in maths
      – Pupils progress through the curriculum at the same pace
      – The curriculum is structured differently. Teaching is underpinned by methodical curriculum design and supported by carefully crafted lessons and resources
      – Maths is delivered via a step-by-step teaching approach using varied visual representations, each with a strong connection to the abstract
      – Intelligent practice and consolidation play a central role. Carefully designed variation within this builds procedural fluency and understanding of underlying mathematical concepts in tandem
      – Immediacy of feedback and intervention – teachers address misconceptions as they occur
      – Parental engagement is strong – maths is considered a fundamental life skill
